COMMON LAND TRAINING IN CROFTING FOR CONSERVATION PROFESSIONALS

Posted on

SCOTTISH CROFTING FEDERATION AND FOUNDATION FOR COMMON LAND TRAINING IN CROFTING FOR CONSERVATION PROFESSIONALS
The Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) and the Foundation for Common Land (FCL) have been awarded grants from the Prince’s Countryside Fundnto pilot a project whereby working crofters will deliver on-croft training in crofting to conservation professionals in Scotland.
The objectives of the training are:
􏰀 To increase understanding amongst conservation professionals of hill farming systems and crofting and common grazings.
􏰀 To provide opportunities for genuine dialogue between the professionals and crofters.
This type of project has never been done before in Scotland and the design of the scheme is the result of a
collaborative effort between the FCL and crofters who have been trained to deliver this pilot.
I attach a briefing and booking form which gives more details about the project and would be grateful if you would let me know whether your organisation might be interested in putting some of your staff through the training course, the third event will take place on 4th March on the Isle of Skye, the final being held on 11th March on the Isle of Raasay.
I can be contacted on Tel: 01854 612311 or e mail: training@crofting.org to submit booking form.

Yours sincerely
Lucy Beattie
