Wild About Food
Shieldaig Lodge Hotel will be holding a "Gourmet Evening". This will focus on locally caught / farmed produce including fresh venison and Scottish Wines. During the afternoon, there will be a foraging expedition in the woodland area around the hotel to identify and pick mushrooms for the evening meal. Immediately prior to the meal itself, hotelier Gino Bernardi will show how to prepare venison for the table.
Local restaurants "Na Mara" and "The Shieling" will both be running special menus based around the wonderful food of the area.
Weather permitting, local fisherman Ian McWhinney will be taking people out in his creel boat to haul up the catch - you catch it, take it home, cook it!
Other options being looked at - Shellfish cooking demonstrations, a "Beer and Bees" afternoon in Gairloch, and........well, look back in a week or so and see.....
