Wild About Food
Gairloch High School pupils will be spending the day creating an evening meal for parents and guests alike. The plan is to serve this at a local hotel, and will be a valuable training ground for the pupils in food preparation, customer service, and understanding exactly what visitors to the area expect from local restaurants and hotels.
Local restaurants "Na Mara" and "The Shieling" will both be running special menus based around the wonderful food of the area.
Weather permitting, local fisherman Ian McWhinney will be taking people out in his creel boat to haul up the catch - you catch it, take it home, cook it!
Other options being looked at - Shellfish cooking demonstrations, a "Beer and Bees" afternoon in Gairloch, and........well, look back in a week or so and see.....
