A GALE/Scottish Natural Heritage event - 'Go Native!'- on Thursday 23rd May at 10am, meeting at the GALE centre.

This event is a joint event between Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum and Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (Scottish Natural Heritage).

We will meet at the GALE centre in Gairloch to do some planting of native herbs and edible perennials in the raised beds. Then we'll have lunch (soup available) before taking a free bus to Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve where we will have a short guided walk looking at edible wild plants.

We will finish the day with a short bit of conservation work at the reserve - this might be in the polytunnels (tree nursery) or outdoors depending on the work needed at the time.
 

The itinerary for the day is:
10am meet GALE centre and plant a selection of native plants in the raised beds.
12pm lunch (need to bring a packed lunch but there will be free tea/coffee and  soup can also be purchased.
1pm  leave for Beinn Eighe by minibus
1.30 have a guided walk by Sarah looking at wild edible plants, then do some conservation work at the reserve, possibly in tree nursery.
4.30pm return to Gairloch

Need to wear old warm clothes, bring waterproofs, gardening gloves if you have them, poss midge gear. Booking needed as limited seats on bus.
